Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 – Local Community Groups

Girls Who Run, Cardiff

Anna-Lee and Bethan’s running journey started at the end of august 2023 when Anna-Lee signed up to the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. Bethan would join in on most of the runs, and they both often spoke about how fun it would be to make a running/social club for the girls!
Girls Who Run Cardiff launched in October 2023 with their first group run taking place in November. There are now regular group runs taking place. With the club being made with the aim of making new friends, whilst running & doing fun activities.
All ages and abilities are welcome to attend and there are runs at different times of the day including early morning and evening so help suit everyone.
At Girls Who Run, Cardiff there are an amazing team of girls who donate their time to help lead these weekly runs, making this all possible!
Make sure to follow their social channels for updates on runs, meet ups, girlie dates & more!

Men Walking and Talking

Men Walking and Talking run mental health walks, with the aim of bringing men together in a safe space to end the stigma around men’s mental health by supporting each other.
Initially started in 2021 by Dan Reid in Telford, and having only one attendee on the first walk, it has now grown to 35 walks across 16 counties. In 2022, Men Walking and Talking became a Community Interest Corporation (CIC) and in November of 2023 it became organisational members of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
Every Tuesday at 7pm, Tom takes the lead on a laid-back walk-through Penarth.
They set off from Plymouth Park Free Car Park (41 Anchor Rd, Penarth CF64 1SN). If you fancy joining them, just turn up – no need to book, no expectations, just a friendly group and a good walk.
This group is about providing a space where guys can talk openly without any judgement.

Sunday Run Club

Lilli started Sunday Run Club in April 2024 because she wanted to create a space where running feels exciting, welcoming, and completely pressure-free — especially for beginners or anyone who’s ever felt nervous joining a run club.

Lilli says, “It’s honestly the best way to start your Sunday — moving, connecting, laughing, and making new friends. Sunday mornings connecting runners, building confidence, and bringing the best vibes to Cardiff Bay. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or it’s your first ever group run — you’ll fit right in. Everyone’s welcome!”

The Sunday Run Club is all about good vibes, confidence, and community.

If you join, you’ll find that they run for time, not distance, which means there’s no pressure around pace or speed — just turning up, moving your body, and having a good time.

Want to take part? They meet every Sunday at 9:30am in Cardiff Bay, right outside the Senedd.
After the run, the group always head over to Esquires Coffee for pancakes, coffee, and a proper Sunday catch-up. So what are you waiting for?
