Husquay the Merdog was at Mermaid Quay from 16 September till 26 November. The 1.5m tall hand-decorated statue of the Raymond Brigg’s inspired snowdog had pride of place on the quayside.

HusQuay forms part of the Snowdogs: Tails in Wales public art trail in aid of Tŷ Hafan, Wales’ leading children’s hospice. The trail, the largest of its kind ever held in the Welsh capital, comprises 43 individually painted Snowdog sculptures installed across Cardiff, inspiring people to get out in the fresh air for walkies, to enjoy being active and spend quality play-time together and to take some fetching selfies with the dogs all across the city.

The theme of Snowdogs: Tails in Wales is based on the much-loved novel and animated film, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog. It’s the story of a little boy who is mourning the death of his pet dog and is comforted when the Snowman and Snowdog he builds mysteriously come to life. Drawing on themes of dealing with loss and friendship, the Snowdogs relates directly to the support Tŷ Hafan offers at its hospice in Sully and in communities across Wales.

Your final chance to capture any of the Snowdogs on the trail will be during the Farewell Weekend –on 8th-10th Dec 2017 at Capitol Centre – tickets are £5 (adult) and £3 (children) – click here to book:

The much anticipated final event of the Snowdogs: Tails in Wales sculpture trail will be the very special Live Auction evening, on Tuesday 12 December at the Marriott Hotel, Cardiff where we hope the HusQuay and his pals will raise a fantastic total for Tŷ Hafan.

There will be surprise lots, guest appearances, hundreds of bidders and three hours of nail biting excitement. Places are strictly limited, with the focus on potential buyers, but if you want to attend please email by Thursday 7 December. You can watch all the excitement online (and place a bid from the comfort of your own kennel) at
