Around Mermaid Quay

The former Oval Basin dock is now a 10,000 capacity outdoor public entertainment arena, located immediately adjacent to Mermaid Quay.

Opened in 2006, the Senedd building was designed by renowned British architect Richard Rogers. It is the Welsh Assembly Government's debating chamber.

Built in 1897, the Pierhead building has remained a constant feature in Cardiff Bay - its clock is unofficially known as the Big Ben of Wales. Restored in 2010 it hosts exhibitions on the history of The Bay and is a venue for public debate.

Opened in 2004, the Millennium Centre is a key cultural and physical landmark in the Bay hosting a wide range of performances from opera and ballet to comedy and musicals.

The UK's longest established science and discovery centre is just two minutes from Mermaid Quay and gives visitors a hands-on approach to science.

Formerly the church of the Norwegian sailors, the building was moved to its present location in 1992, and is now a thriving cultural centre.
