Ar Waith Ar Daith at Wales Millenium Centre

Wales Millennium Centre has launched an epic, five-month artistic journey across Wales, created by outdoor arts experts Walk the Plank.

Ar Waith Ar Daith is a Welsh journey of myth and magic, culminating in a spectacular performance outside Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on Saturday 12 September 2015.

This year, Walk the Plank have been working with Wales Millennium Centre to create this event - a Welsh journey of myth and magic - as the centrepiece to Wales Millennium Centre's 10th anniversary celebrations.

This project will see a reinterpretation of the age-old tale of The Birth of Taliesin in an incredible performance which will see Wales Millennium Centre itself transformed through collective imagination.

Over the past six months, WMC have been gathering content from near and far - minerals, materials, stories and inspiration - through a series of bespoke training schools offered to local, Welsh creative practitioners. This hunt for creative stimulus mirrors the same journey made by one of the story's key characters, Ceridwen the witch, in her quest to create the ultimate potion of poetic inspiration. Along the way, we've reawakened legends and invited audiences along for the ride through new and existing engagement projects.

It all culminates on Saturday 12 September 2015 outside Wales Millennium Centre with a procession, performers, stories, songs and astonishing projections as we ravel and unravel a celebration fit for this beautiful building, ten years after it was opened.

Expect storytelling on a grand scale, as processions, music, performance, and more light up the Centre for this once-in-a-lifetime performance.
