Mermaid Quay Goes Green

Since 2015, Mermaid Quay has been working hard to cut waste and improve sustainability.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Mermaid Quay Going Green
To celebrate, Mermaid Quay has built a greenhouse using plastic bottles and other recycled materials, in which we are growing vegetables and flowers using the digestate created by recycling food waste from our restaurants, cafés and bars to create a ‘virtuous circle’.

The GreenHouse at Mermaid Quay is open to the public until 23 May, including May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

Mermaid Quay is also working with local schools and other groups who want to see recycling in action with visits to both the greenhouse and the BioNova digester.

You can follow the progress in The GreenHouse on our blog page and on social media.

If you would like to organise an organised visit to see recycling in action, please email
