Since 2015, Mermaid Quay has been working hard to cut waste and improve sustainability.
Here’s what we’ve been up to:
To celebrate, Mermaid Quay has built a greenhouse using plastic bottles and other recycled materials, in which we are growing vegetables and flowers using the digestate created by recycling food waste from our restaurants, cafés and bars to create a ‘virtuous circle’.
The GreenHouse at Mermaid Quay is open to the public over the Easter holidays and May Bank Holiday weekend.
Following this, Mermaid Quay will be working with local schools and other groups who want to see recycling in action with visits to both the greenhouse and the BioNova digester throughout April and May.
You can follow the progress in The GreenHouse on blog page and on social media.
