To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, Côte Restaurant in Mermaid Quay has launched a new vegetarian menu – proving that French restaurants can indeed be a great choice for vegetarians.
The decision to launch the new menu follows the extraordinary popularity of the vegetarian breakfast, which was introduced to Côte’s breakfast menu in June 2015, and now ranks as the second most ordered breakfast.
The new vegetarian à la carte menu contains all non-meat items from the main menus, with small tweaks where necessary, alongside dishes created especially for the menu. Starters include French onion soup with a sourdough and melted mozzarella croute or wild mushrooms on toasted brioche. For mains you can choose from a range of rustic dishes such as braised Puy lentils with roasted vegetables and poached egg or grilled spinach and cheddar sausages with Salardaise potatoes. The menu also features most of Côte’s full dessert menu, including their signature crème caramel and a decadent rich chocolate mousse.
On top of that they also have a vegetarian wine list. Recognising that many wines are traditionally made using non-vegetarian finings processes, Côte wanted to be able to offer a truly vegetarian experience. The resulting menu will allow Côte’s vegetarian guests to dine from a comprehensive menu, without the fear that any of their meal choices may not be suitable for a vegetarian diet.
